The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), inaugurated three colleges of technology in Fiji, to support the country’s education sector in areas affected by severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.
Each college consists of three complexes that include academic and technology labs and administration
offices, at a cost of AED18,365,000, benefitting 3,000 students per year.
The ERC began building the colleges after the cyclone that hit the country, destroying its infrastructure.
An ERC delegation, led by Hamoud Abdullah Al Junaibi, ERC Secretary-General, recently visited Fiji to conduct several humanitarian missions and attend the inauguration of the technical colleges.
During the event, Al Junaibi stressed such projects will establish a new era in the ERC’s work in Fiji, noting that the ERC’s presence in the South Pacific underscores the country’s global message, and added that the ERC aims to provide basic services to citizens and launch development projects.
Al Junaibi said the ERC’s education initiatives highlight its plans to invest in human resources, stressing that education is crucial to achieving overall sustainable development.
