Mohammed: UAE supports all forms of creativity, innovation

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has affirmed that the UAE supports all forms of creativity and innovation and will continue its efforts to bring happiness and greater welfare to its people.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed made the remarks on Saturday while visiting the Dubai Canvas, the annual 3D art festival organised by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office.
“The cultural landscape in the UAE is witnessing fast-paced developments driven by multi-faceted projects and events that combine the quintessential Emirati culture with modernity, earning the country a distinguished positioning on the world’s cultural scene,” said H.H. Sheikh Mohammed, noting that the development of art mirrors the development of the society.
Arts represent a form of communication that goes beyond language and breaks cultural barriers, he added, noting that UAE’s encouragement for innovation has made it a hub for innovators to exchange ideas and experience.
The UAE Vice President toured the festival and viewed some of the 3D murals and other artworks exhibited within the beachfront district La Mer, Jumeirah, where works of more than 30 international artists from around the world are showcased.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed interacted with some of the participating artists, who included more than 30 female students from Zayed University. The students thanked him for his interest in the 3D art and support for creativity.
Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office Mona Al Marri briefed H.H. Sheikh Mohammed on the festival’s objectives and activities.
On March 1-7, La Mer visitors are treated with live 3D demonstrations, workshops, live music, movie screenings and other activities designed for different ages and offered for free during the festival. Dubai Canvas provides a platform for renowned artists from around the world to exhibit their creations in a public space.

Mohammed visits Dubai Boat Show
Sheikh Mohammed also visited the Dubai International Boat Show 2018 and expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of exhibitors and seafarers.The show’s 26th edition is organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre, in cooperation with the Dubai International Marine Club, at the iconic Dubai Water Canal, Jumeirah.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed inspected locally manufactured boats and acquainted himself with the high-tech equipment used by the local yacht companies, which compete with international manufacturers in this respect. A total of 845 international companies are participating in this year’s edition of the premier event.
His Highness welcomed the international exhibitors who look for new markets and customers in the GCC region, describing the show as a significant tourist event that draws a large number of exhibitors and visitors from around the region and the world to take the opportunity and learn about the quintessential Emirati culture, heritage and historic landmarks.
Sheikh Mohammed was shown around the exhibits, including the 20 luxury yachts showcased during the event, primarily a mega yacht measuring 86 metres by the UAE-based shipyard, Gulf Craft, and SERENITY, the 72m Austal mega yacht.
His Highness, who was accompanied by Helal Saeed Almarri, the Director General of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, welcomed the international exhibitors who look for new markets and customers in the GCC region.
