Lectures on ‘The Future in 60 Minutes’ launched

The government of the UAE has launched “The Future in 60 Minutes” initiative, which includes a series of 60-minute lectures to discuss various topics on vital aspects of the UAE’s strategy to predict the future.
The Future in 60 Minutes initiative will host international experts speaking on the subject of predicting the future, who will provide a summary of their expertise, knowledge and experiences in various areas. Each lecture will focus on one topic that will address how to predict future development.
Atraf Shehab, Managing Director of the Future Department in the Prime Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, said, “This initiative aims to raise the awareness of government employees, expand the culture of future foresight, and enrich their knowledge about information enables them to draft prospective future plans and promote their future readiness.”
He added that influential figures with inspirational experience in vital sectors, covered by the UAE’s future strategy, would participate in the lectures. He also noted the lectures will adopt an interactive approach, providing participants with an opportunity to participate and ask questions.
Morinosuke Kawaguchi, Japanese expert, innovation and competitive strategy consultant, futurist, author and designer, presented a lecture entitled, “Future Forecasts”, which was attended by employees of federal authorities.
He also spoke about future scenarios in the technology and artificial intelligence sectors, in light of accelerating developments and the ways in which governments try to pursue a balanced development of goals and outcomes, to ensure a balanced future satisfaction of technological development.
Kawaguchi also addressed the ways to keep track of new government technologies, by presenting the experience of Japan and the similarities between the UAE and Japan, in terms of keeping pace with changes and successful competition.
Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, launched the UAE’s future strategy, which aims to proactively explore and analyse opportunities and challenges in all vital sectors, while developing long-term overall plans to achieve qualitative achievements to serve the interests of the UAE.
