In keeping with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (KF) has begun the implementation of phase 1 of a number of projects to restore critical infrastructure in the Republic of Tajikistan, which was damaged by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake.
A spokesperson for the Khalifa Foundation said that project implementation began after a delegation from the foundation visited Tajikistan to determine the damage caused by the earthquake which hit the eastern part of the country, destroying homes and critical infrastructure, and displacing hundreds of people.
The spokesperson said that the foundation carried out a comprehensive survey of the damage done to various sectors to establish the needs of those affected, and has locally purchased equipment and materials to construct 200 homes, renovate a major international highway, and
restore a sewage water canal in the capital, Dushanbe.
