Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority – Land and Maritime, on Tuesday issued a decision on the implementation of the requirements of the International Convention on Tonnage Measurement of Ships,1969, to establish uniform principles and rules with respect to the determination of tonnage of ships engaged on international voyages. The decision seeks to increase safety at sea, protect the marine environment, and implement the recommendations of the International Maritime Organisation regarding the total tonnage of ships.
