Dubai Ladies Club (DLC) is set to host the fourth edition of its successful charity fashion exhibition, ‘Designs of Hope’, from June 13 to 15. The event is being held in support of the Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative’s ‘teacHER’ campaign, launched in collaboration with Dubai Cares to increase children’s access to quality education in Nepal, Senegal and Egypt.
The exhibition will feature 1000 designer abayas and kaftans, worth a collective AED 1.7 million, which have been donated by 24 UAE fashion labels to be sold at an exclusive price of only AED 1,000 each. During the event, each of the designers will also showcase their latest Eid collections.
Commenting on the event, Lamia Abdul Aziz Khan, Director of Dubai Ladies Club, said: “Inspired by the unwavering commitment of Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, President of Dubai Women Establishment (DWE) and wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, to support and drive humanitarian work on a local, national and international level, our Designs of Hope charity fashion exhibition has been a major success since its foundation in 2013, and we’re very proud to be hosting our fourth edition this month.”
She continued: “The proceeds from this year’s exhibition will contribute to empower girls in developing countries.”

She added, “through basic education they need to start realising their full potential and accessing new opportunities. Educating just one girl can have a profound impact – on her future and the lives of the girls around her, creating a ripple effect which can lead to lasting, positive change across societies. As always, we’ve been delighted with the overwhelming response from designers and sponsors across the UAE, reflecting the country’s deep-rooted values of generosity and compassion, and we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all involved in this year’s exhibition.”
All of the proceeds from the exhibition will be dedicated to the ‘teacHER’ campaign, which has been launched to support a girls’ education programme in Egypt and the adoption of primary schools in Nepal and Senegal. The initiative supports the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian work, particularly during Ramadan, in line with the Year of Giving and the call from H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to intensify philanthropic efforts during the Holy Month.

The Designs of Hope exhibition will feature exclusive collections from distinguished designers including Fary; Bougussa; Huda Alnuaimi; Nabrman; Anatomi; 1001; Designers Empire; Elna Line; Moza Collection; Slouchy’s; R-Design; Thobe by Zahy; Hessa Falasi; Wings Collection; Lamsty; Nafs; Fooladi; THREE dots; Nigwah; The Wrap; Ego; El Ilham; Be You and Fatma with Love. The event is being sponsored by Emirates Hospital and entry is complimentary.
Fashion for a cause – Designs of Hope
The debut edition of Designs of Hope in 2013 was held in support of “Noor Al Hayat” – the Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative’s first project, launched in collaboration with Noor Dubai to support the prevention and treatment of 1 million patients suffering from sight ailments in various regions throughout the world.
The second Designs of Hope exhibition in 2014 raised funds for the “UAE Water Aid Initiative”, launched to provide 5 million people in developing countries with improved access to safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation.
The 2015 edition of the exhibition contributed towards “UAE Initiative for Connection with Orphans and Minors” which was supported by “Selah” art programme of The Cultural office of Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Makhtoum. The national initiative helped underprivileged children and orphans to develop self-awareness, cognitive and creative skills through the therapeutic value of expressive arts.
