5th World Govt Summit announced

As per the directives of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the 5th World Government Summit will be held from February 12 to 14, 2017.
The Summit will expand its agenda and session topics to include economy and finance as well as health, education and government services. It will also discuss a number of themes directly related to the lives of people and various segments of the society all over the world.
Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness and Vice Chairman of the Organising Committee of the World Government Summit, stated that the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, emphasise the importance of bringing in a set of qualitative changes to the agenda of the fifth edition of the Summit.
She noted that the next Summit will see a number of positive changes, including opening up the Summit for participation from companies and organisations. Nominated representatives of companies and organisations will be able to participate in the sessions that discuss topics of relevance to the future in key sectors such as education, health, government services,
future of science, innovation, technology, economy, development, sustainability, and the cities of the future.
Al Roumi added that the dynamic changes being brought about in the Summit come in line with its unique position as an international organisation that works throughout the year to produce knowledge for future governments.
In its new identity, the Summit is focused on launching global reports and indices as well as establishing a new partnership with International Monetary Fund. It will also enhance its partnerships with major international organisations, including the United Nations, World Bank, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and World Economic Forum, in addition to the Arab League and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
She stated that the Organising Committee is keen to employ the latest innovations, technologies and communication channels to broadcast the sessions of the Summit over three days for interested people and students from all over the world.
Al Roumi also said that the World Government Summit will continue to attract the best international practices and outstanding experiences as well as host an Annual Guest of the Summit to showcase various experiences in the fields related to the governments of the future.
She added that the Organising Committee is currently working on preparing a rich agenda and a set of highly engaging events with the participation of leading international speakers, government officials, partners and entrepreneurs who will highlight the role of successful future governments and the most important strategic plans in the short, medium and long term to improve the quality of government performance.
More than 4,500 participants from 130 countries attended the 4th World Government Summit which witnessed an address by US President Barack Obama and a dialogue on the future of government conducted by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The last edition also included shorter sessions to facilitate more engagement between speakers and the audience, and the use of an application for active communication with participants. The 4th Summit also featured the Edge of Government exhibition organised by Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation as well as the Annual Guest of Honor, and the ‘Best Minister in the World’ award.
