His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday met the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and discussed ways to promote fraternal relations and a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the Egyptian President’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing the keenness of the two countries leaderships to continue their consultation and coordination for the interests of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.
Both officials also discussed cooperation in various aspects and other important vital areas that interest the two countries to strengthen these relations and develop them.
At the meeting, which was attended by H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, and H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Mohamed and President el-Sisi reviewed issues related to regional interventions that destabilise the region, as well as combating extremism, violence and terrorism, and draining its funding sources.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed emphasised the deep ties between the UAE and Egypt, which, he said, are based on strong bases of understanding and consensus on regional and international issues. He pointed out that UAE-Egyptian relations are an outstanding model for fraternal relations based on the principles of brotherhood, trust and mutual respect.
“The Emirati-Egyptian coordination has proved its hardness over the past years in facing various challenges in the region, foremost of which is the challenge of terrorism, which has become a serious global threat that cannot be tolerated, along with its supporters, because it has spread in a manner that cannot be ignored. This calls for a serious Arab, regional and international stand to face this threat,
that targets everyone
without exception,” Sheikh Mohamed added.
He continued, “The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, stands firmly with Egypt in its war against terrorism, which will not be able to stop or disrupt its vision of achieving development and progress, and the well-being of its people.”
The Egyptian President expressed his happiness at visiting the UAE, reiterating that the relations between Egypt and the UAE are a model of strategic cooperation between Arab countries. He also praised the role of the UAE under the leadership President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in promoting joint Arab action.
President el-Sisi stressed Egypt’s keenness to continue developing bilateral relations and coordination between the two countries at all levels on various regional and international issues. He stressed that the security of the Gulf states is an integral part of Egypt’s national security.
HH Sheikh Mohamed and President el-Sisi discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, the latest developments in the Middle East region and the efforts being exerted to reach political settlements. The two sides stressed the need to preserve the unity and sovereignty of countries that are experiencing crises, to preserve the capabilities of their peoples, and to enable their national institutions to fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining security and combating terrorism.
The two sides also discussed developments related to combating terrorism and extremism, emphasising the importance of all Arab countries concerting their efforts along with the international community in tackling this scourge at all levels, especially with regard to eliminating the financing of terrorist groups and blocking their supply of weapons and followers.
They also underlined the need to face the matter of interventions in Arab countries’ affairs, and to intensify efforts to achieve the interests of the Arab peoples.
The meeting was attended by Ahmed Juma Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs, Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, and Isa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
Also in attendance were Sameh Shukri, Egyptian Foreign Minister, Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek Kabil, Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform, Mustafa Sherif, Chief of the Egyptian President’s Office, Abbas Kamel, Director of the President’s Office, and Mohammed Jad, Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE, along with a number of Egyptian officials.
