‘UAE, Niger to take economic, political ties to new heights’

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger on Thursday.
During their meeting, Sheikh
Mohammed praised UAE-Niger ties as ‘good’, emphasising the commitment of the countries’ leaders to advance
economic and political relations to new heights of co-operation.
Niger’s President Mahamadou Issoufou expressed admiration at the progress achieved by the UAE in different walks of life, especially in human resources development, infrastructure, and social and economic welfare.
He also expressed his country’s desire to open up new channels of communication to expand co-operation with the UAE, which he termed as a “living example for Africa in areas of development, security, stability and ruler-to-people
cohesion.”
The president also commended the positive role played by Emirati women, who he said ventured in fields that have been dominated by men. This example drew commendation and set a role model for women in African countries, he added.
He thanked the UAE for extending humanitarian assistance to his country and other poor African people.
President Issoufou hailed the UAE’s role in countering terrorism and its persistent efforts to spread security, stability and peace in countries struck by crises, violence and terrorism like Libya and Yemen.
Present at the meeting were HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department, and members of the delegation accompanying the President of Niger.
