Preparations are proceeding on-schedule and according to plans for the Mother of the Nation Festival and its five distinct activity zones, as announced by the organising committee at Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority. The update comes ahead of the Festival’s official launch on Thursday, March 24.
With only five days remaining until the Festival opens its doors to Abu Dhabi and the UAE, its centrepiece Pavilion and accompanying five zones are taking shape along 1.3km of the Abu Dhabi Corniche. Construction progress is clearly visible to pedestrians walking by the festival’s location.
Mouza Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director, Marketing & Communications, Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, commented: “We are proud to organise this festival, which carries the name of the “Mother of the Nation”. Geared towards illuminating the profound vision and far-reaching impact of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Festival will also express appreciation to all mothers in the UAE for their effort and sacrifice in nurturing a new generation of citizens, capable of building a promising future.”
“We eagerly await the Festival’s launch in the coming week and are confident that it will meet the highest expectations, thanks to the organising committee’s great efforts over the past few months. This is a result of gathering best practices, solid collaboration, and inspired thinking among various stakeholders across both private and public sectors,” Al Shamsi added.
The Festival aims to shed light on the exceptional vision of the “Mother of the Nation”, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council of Motherhood and Childhood. HH Sheikha Fatima has maintained a steadfast focus on instilling a spirit of family solidarity while spreading the values of tolerance, collaboration, and camaraderie across the diverse UAE community. The Festival’s activities also pay homage to HH Sheikha Fatima’s advocacy for family cohesion and the indispensable role mothers play in nurturing communities.
The Festival, a national cultural and social event, welcomes visitors from across the country to the Abu Dhabi Corniche for ten days of education, entertainment, and family fun from March 24 until April 2. Festival gates will be open daily from 4pm to midnight.
The Festival includes a variety of events organised in five distinct zones: the Souq Zone, the Beach Dining Zone, the Art Zone, the Active Zone, and the Conservation Zone. Its centrepiece, The Pavilion, highlights the achievements of HH Sheikha Fatima across 13 exhibits housed in an enclosed structure.
Through a wide variety of activities, exhibits, and vendors, visitors can enjoy an interactive and multimedia atmosphere. A uniquely tailored collection of performances and events are guaranteed to keep visitors of all backgrounds and ages entertained throughout the Festival’s ten days.
Tickets, which can be purchased at the Festival gates, are priced at AED 20 for adults and AED 10 for children under the age of 12, while children under 5 can enter free of charge. All ticket revenues will be donated to a charity that will be chosen by the organising committee.
Shuttle buses will transport visitors from Marina Mall and the dedicated parking areas — situated adjacent to Nation Towers — to the East Plaza on the Corniche, which will serve as the main gateway to the Festival.
