Dr Sultan Al-Qasimi Centre of Gulf Studies is set to join the growing list of locations hosting performances from the Sharjah Light Festival (SLF), which is scheduled to dazzle the public for 10 days until February 11 – from 6pm to 11pm on weekdays and until midnight on weekends.
The Festival is organised by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) and covers cities and locations across the Emirate of Sharjah. The show taking place at Dr Sultan Al-Qasimi Centre of Gulf Studies reflects cultural diversity, using 2D and 3D imagery and blending cutting-edge technology with graphic design. The show is directed by Javier Pinto, Mathieu Felix, and Federico Gonzalez from Spanish creative studio Tigerlab. The audience is treated to an interactive experience where they can choose their own designs and music.
Located in close proximity of the University City Hall in Sharjah, Dr. Sultan Al-Qasimi Centre of Gulf Studies is regarded as a unique cultural destination, by virtue of its vast collection of artefacts and possessions that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has amassed over a period of 25 years.
The Centre comprises several sections, including: History of the Gulf through Maps, Life in the Gulf, Library Archive, Rare Coins with Special Relevance for the Gulf Area, and the Personal Collection of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi.
Over by Khalid Lagoon, meanwhile, the Palm Oasis – located near Al Noor Mosque – is set to shine with interactive light shows designed by experts in lighting urban landscapes. The mesmerising shows perfectly highlight the architectural and natural aesthetics of the location.
