Sandooq Al Watan receives AED4mn from two donors

Sandooq Al Watan, a national initiative launched by prominent Emirati businessmen to support research projects, received AED4 million in contributions to help support its efforts to build a sustainable knowledge economy.
Of the total received, AED3 million was donated by Emirati businessman Sheikh Mohamed bin Sultan bin Srour Al Dhaheri, and the remaining AED1 million was pledged by Essa bin Saeed bin Essa Al Khalili, Member of the National Advisory Council.
Al Dhaheri said, “Sandooq Al Watan is the perfect representation of the cohesion in UAE society and the efforts being exerted across the board to achieve more development and prosperity for the country and its people. To that end, the fund, and all of its supporters, seek to establish a competent national workforce capable of performing its duties, in addition to encouraging the business community to assume its social responsibilities and help propel the UAE to the fore across all sectors.”
Al Khalili said, “Supporting Sandooq Al Watan resonates with our commitment to play our part in the efforts to build a better future for the UAE, a future where the Emirates is a leader among nations and regarded as a global model for excellence. The fund plays a pivotal role in this endeavour by supporting research projects that seek to develop national capacities in keeping with the directives of our leaders, who have called for investing in people and empowering them to become the leaders of the future.”
The fund’s Board of Directors expressed their appreciation for the new donations and their pride in the local business community.
