Mohamed says UAE committed to support Arab League

The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is committed to consolidating Arab joint action to realise the aspirations of the Arab people for development, building and stability, and supporting the Arab League’s efforts to serve Arab issues.
“Understanding the gravity of challenges facing the Arab nation and their fallout on the region’s security and stability forms the basic premise for the form and size of work the Arab League should pursue,” His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces affirmed during a meeting with the Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit in Abu Dhabi, on Wednesday.
HH Sheikh Mohamed was informed about the main guidelines of the Arab League’s plan of action in the coming period.
The Cairo-based Arab League and Arab countries have a historic responsibility with regard to the chaos and destruction taking place in some Arab countries, H.H. Sheikh Mohamed said, while stressing that the Saudi-led Arab Coalition had succeeded in delivering success in a short span of time, putting an end to foreign interventions in the region.
”The principle of solidarity, unity, shared vision and mobilisation of sources and energy is the key to building joint Arab action and setting true strategic plans for the future and security of the region,” HH Sheikh Mohamed added.
He also emphasised the importance and efficiency of mechanisms and tools of the joint Arab act not only in the political landscape but also in other economic, social and cultural domains.
Aboul-Gheit expressed thanks and appreciation to the UAE for its efforts in strengthening unity in the Arab world as well as serving its cause and defending its interests.
The meeting tackled a wide range of the latest
Arab and international developments and discussed
co-ordination between the pan-Arab body and the
international community in this respect.
Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and a number of other senior officials attended the meeting at Al Shati Palace.
