Media plays a crucial role in informing the younger generation about the rich heritage and culture of the UAE, said HH Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President’s Representative, during a meeting with leaders of Abu Dhabi Media Company and other TV channels here on Sunday.
“Media should be objective and act as a mirror for the nation, its civilisation and culture, and be a constructive partner of the state in its efforts to build the identity and culture of the community,” Sheikh Sultan remarked, calling on the nation’s media organisations to pay more attention and allocate more space for content on the country’s culture and heritage.
“National media should focus on local culture, its values of tolerance and moderation. Media organisations have the responsibility of presenting simple, attractive, cultural, knowledgeable and educational content. You have a national duty and a cultural mission which you should carry out with a high sense of integrity, honesty and professionalism,” he advised the media officials.
”We will provide you with the assistance you need to convey your national messages, but we want more efforts from you,” he added.
