Considering the ever-increasing rush of travellers between India’s commercial capital Mumbai and Dubai, Jet Airways — which works in alliance with UAE’s national carrier Etihad Airways — has announced increased frequency of flights between the two cities from March 1.
A new flight from Indian capital Delhi is also in the offing, making Mumbai-Dubai and Delhi-Dubai the busiest international routes from India. Jet Airways will launch a sixth daily frequency from Mumbai to Dubai. With the introduction of this new flight, India’s leading air carrier will offer the maximum number of daily flights between the two cities.
Jet Airways will now operate a total of 11 daily flights between India and Dubai. This also includes flights from Kochi and Mangalore. “Jet Airways is delighted to introduce additional frequencies from Mumbai and Delhi to Dubai providing greater choice and convenience to our guests on these popular routes. Dubai is among our most popular destinations for business and leisure travellers and it was only fitting to increase capacity to this key market,” said Gaurang Shetty, Senior Vice President – Commercial, Jet Airways, in a recent press statement.
Jet Airways will also launch a third daily frequency between Delhi and Dubai, starting March 27 offering guests a greater choice when travelling between India’s national capital and the Emirate. Jet Airways recently expanded its codeshare partnership with Etihad Airways. Overall codeshare traffic witnessed growth of 28 percent from 416,816 passengers carried in Q3 of FY15 to 534,104 passengers in Q3 of FY16, with traffic growing by 86 percent.
It is also worth a mention that Jet Airways group in its latest financial performance results posted record profits of US$71 million for the third quarter ending December 31, 2015.
Jet airways with Etihad, also reported that the airlines carried a record 3.3 million passengers between Abu Dhabi hub and India in 2015, representing a sharp rise on the 2 million flown during the previous 12 months.
Jet Airways’ new flights commence operations at a time when India has strengthened its position as one of UAE’s largest trading partners and the bilateral trade is at an all-time high. Dubai is a key destination for business and leisure travel from India.
With its strategic location, Dubai has become a hub for many global businesses and a go-to destination for Indian professionals.
“The new frequencies will enable Jet Airways to offer guests a wide choice of departure times to from Dubai and convenient domestic connections via our hubs in Mumbai and Delhi,” Shetty added. Jet Airways will deploy Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the new services, offering Première and Economy guests a best in class in-flight product, warm service, a choice of Indian and international cuisine and the latest in-flight
entertainment.
