The midsize SUV Ford Explorer has been named the best in the segment at the region’s most prestigious car award function in Abu Dhabi.
Thierry Sabbagh, managing director of Ford Middle East, said, “We are enthralled for achieving this milestone. Explorer has already set a benchmark for the segment of Sport Utility Vehicles. We have always been striving to give the best to our customers and on receiving this award we feel pride and honoured for being recognised for our efforts.”
As per the automotive industry’s 2015 report, Ford Explorer led its segment in the GCC with a 40 percent share. Also the SUV still continues to top its category through Q1 of 2016. The exterior styling has been updates — such as positioning the grille and LED headlamps even higher, adding a new closed-off lower roof rack with channels that cascade rainwater off the vehicle and a new rear spoiler – also improve aerodynamics.
The 2016 Explorer features more robust headlamps, with available LED signature lighting, standard LED low-beams and available LED fog lamps. Also the interior design has been updated; the stylish exhilarant look has been a true magnet to the customers. It has also been expressed through Ford consumer research, that one in five Explorer Sport customers previously owned a luxury vehicle.
