Industry regulators would take stock of the standards of fire safety in the UAE construction sector at the 6th Annual Fire Safety Technology Forum in Dubai on April 27.
Panelists will also discuss the significance of using innovative materials and systems such as ventilated facades and importance of metal-faced sandwich panels that could contribute to achieving fire safety in the real estate sector.
“The super high upsurge of construction in the UAE has dwarfed the Europe’s high-rise . However, we have a big challenge ahead and an enormous common task, to regulate the industry for resilience and ensure long-term safety of sky-rocketing buildings,” said Barry Lynham, Group Director of Strategy and Communication at Knauf Insulation.
The Forum would be held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Interior and Deputy Prime Minister, and this year’s theme is ‘Innovation for High Rise Resilience’. Of late, many incidents of building facade fire around the world have been reported, triggering concern over the quality of fire safety regulations and standards for construction.
“By partnering with organisations like Fire Safe Europe and other construction and fire safety experts and industry partners, Knauf Insulation has been supporting policy makers across Europe to correct dangerous discrepancies in fire safety regulations and ensure that fire safety codes for buildings and testing protocols for construction products are rigorous and performance-based,” Lynham said.
