Dubai top medical tourism destination

Dubai’s medical sector witnessed rapid growth in medical tourism, strengthened by governmental assistance, legislation and support for investors, according to Dr. Layla Al-Marzouqi, Chairman of the Medical Tourism Council of the Dubai Health Authority.
The country currently has 3,000 health establishments and over 35,000 working medical professional, along with 31 hospitals, and over 1,000 medical clinics and one-day
surgery centres.
During her statement today, Dr. Al-Marzouqi highlighted the success of the Dubai Health Experience (DXH), and the efforts made by the Dubai Health Authority in co-operation with its strategic partners to achieve Dubai’s leadership vision in the medical tourism sector through providing specialist medical services that answer the needs of patients at the highest international standards.
She also highlighted the factors that contributed to Dubai’s leadership in the medical tourism sector, including its modern infrastructure, equipment and tools, and its advanced medical technologies and specialised manpower, as well as its developed medical system that relies on transparency and international standards of patient care. Dubai also has the largest number of internationally-certified medical establishments and more than 35,000 world-class doctors, medical experts and healthcare specialists, representing 110 nationalities.
She also pointed to the use of smart applications and the DXH website, which forms a unified platform for providing medical tourists with travel conveniences and full information on high-quality healthcare. She further noted the available medical packages on the DXH website, which were designed in collaboration with more than 40 healthcare establishments, under the DXH Medical Tourism Group.
Al-Marzouqi then mentioned the effective role of the DHX Medical Tourism Group, established by the authority in 2014, as a unified platform under the strategic plans and future vision for medical tourism in Dubai.
She said that the DHX Medical Tourism Group now includes 42 healthcare establishments that provide a wide range of health packages, including cosmetic treatments and surgeries, bone surgery, optometry, dentistry, dermatology, health and preventative check-ups, childbirth assistance, and weight loss programmes and surgeries.
She also noted its website, www.dxh.ae, which is considered the first of its kind in the world, and includes 32 healthcare establishments with 380 medical packages, 13 tourism sector partners and over 50
inclusive tourist packages.
