The Health and Safety Department of Dubai Municipality has discussed its proposed plan to provide training to salon workers in the emirate.
The civic body held a meeting with 45 certified training companies on health and safety requirements, to discuss in detail the training programmes for salons and Personal Care Centres for men and women.
Redha Salman, Director of Health and Safety Department explained the idea of training, which he said, was based on the outcomes of the previous meetings with the salons
The meeting discussed important steps to improve the training programme and the significant challenges that could be faced with training companies during the training, including how to communicate with workers of different cultures and nationalities and the multiplicity of languages.
Salman pledged to find solutions in accordance with best international practices through coordination with partners from the certification bodies and training companies. The meeting was told that there are about 3,500 ladies and gents salons in the emirate.
During the meeting it was noted that there is a lack of knowledge among the workers about health and safety procedures to be followed by them. Based on these findings, it was decided to bind all workers in this field for training and obtaining certificates entitling them to carry out the provision of services in a safe and healthy manner.
