Dubai Culture celebrates achievements of ‘Generation Shapers’

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has unveiled the September programme of its ‘School of Life’ project, celebrating Emirati women and highlighting their contributions and achievements, while shedding light on the role of ‘Generation Shapers’ in nurturing generations and shaping the future.
Coinciding with the back-to-school season, the programme features 46 workshops and interactive sessions hosted across Dubai Public Libraries , offering children, families, adults and People of Determination new opportunities to learn, experiment and explore diverse fields spanning arts, literature, languages, music, culinary arts, innovation, science and technology. Through an environment that brings together knowledge, creativity and community engagement, the programme encourages participants to develop their skills, reflecting Dubai Culture’s commitment to providing inspiring, accessible and inclusive platforms that strengthen the capabilities of community members and make culture accessible to everyone.
Supporting the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy, the project offers a diverse programme spanning culinary arts, creative practice, sustainability, music and technology, delivered through a series of innovative clubs.
As part of this month’s ‘School of Life’ programme, Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children will feature the ‘Mexican Kitchen: Tacos’ workshop by MH Eatry , while Al Rashidiya Public Library will present ‘Painting on Cake’ by Atalis Solea. Sanaa Merchant will lead ‘Scented Wax’ at Al Mankhool Public Library, Abdul Kader will deliver ‘Sustainability: Home Composting’ at Hor Al Anz Public Library, and Reema Abbas will present ‘Bloom with Balloons’ at Umm Suqeim Public Library. At Al Safa Art & Design Library, Yazan Kamal will lead ‘Piano Basics 101’, combining theory with practical exercises to build participants’ musical skills.
Montajab Alhussein will introduce children to artificial intelligence through ‘AI for Young Minds’, using games, everyday examples and live demonstrations to promote safe and responsible engagement with technology.
The ‘Health and Nutrition Club’ will offer a variety of hands-on culinary experiences. At Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, Chef Alya Al Ali will lead ‘Traditional Emirati Aseeda Dessert’, highlighting one of the UAE’s traditional dishes, alongside ‘Banana Muffin’ by L’Atelier. Meanwhile, Al Mankhool Library will host ‘Blueberry Matcha’ by Japan in Arabia.
The ‘Art Club’ will present a series of workshops bringing together traditional crafts and contemporary creative practices. Al Safa Art & Design Library will host ‘Leather Case’ by Vivelle, ‘Metal Emboss’ by Leinda Elmiligy, ‘Antimony Kohl Making’ by Hadeel Adnan, ‘Craft Your Look’ and ‘Clay & Colors’ by Medaf Creative Studio, ‘ReStitch’ by Regal Traders LLC, and ‘Soap & Stories’ by Rooftop Soapery. Al Twar Library will host ‘Talli Charm’ by Happy Chaos, while Al Mankhool Library will feature ‘Japanese Kinusaiga Art’ by Abeer Al Edani, ‘Paper Quilled Hair Clips’ by StripsnCurls, and ‘Emirati Doll’ by Venturia. Al Rashidiya Public Library will also offer ‘Bukhoor Making’ by L’Atelier, ‘Wall Bloom’ by Teng Miras, ‘Crochet Flowers’ by Sherooq Tantawi, and ‘Montessori Approach: Sensory Learning’ by Venturia.
Under the ‘Language Club’, Al Rashidiya Public Library will host ‘Japanese Culture: Language 101’ by Japan in Arabia, while Al Twar Library will present ‘From Language to Legacy: Syrian Dialect’ by Shaheen, offering participants opportunities to explore language alongside different aspects of cultural heritage.
The ‘STEM Club’ will take children into the worlds of coding, robotics, game design and space. Brainy n Bright will present ‘Robot Explorers’ at Al Twar Library, where children will explore robotics and sensor-based technologies. Brainpad will also present ‘Junior Game Designer: Back to School Adventure’ and ‘Game Design: Catch the Letters’, providing interactive experiences in coding, problem-solving and game design. Umm Suqeim Library will host ‘Moving Galaxy Model’ by Usraty Labs, enabling children to explore space and scientific concepts through an engaging hands-on activity.
At Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, the ‘Music and Performing Arts Club’ will present ‘Choral and Performing Arts in Arabic’ by Cordon across four sessions throughout September.
