A spectacular Chinese Festival will take place at Al Majaz Waterfront, from February 23 – 27. The first of its kind event for Al Majaz Waterfront will feature a range of attractions and activities including Chinese street food, live performances and a dragon boat race.
The five-day festival will include several performances such as the dragon dance, the ribbon dance, the lion dance, the lute show, the fan dance, an ethnic Chinese dance and also a dress show featuring traditional Chinese outfits.
Mohammed Fadhil Al Mazroui, Manager of Al Majaz Waterfront, said, “We’re very excited to be hosting the Chinese Festival at Al Majaz Waterfront and give visitors from all over the UAE a taste of China. The Chinese community in Sharjah and the UAE are very important to us and we look forward to strengthening the visitors’ knowledge about China through this festival. Therefore we invite everyone to join us and enjoy the fun-filled activities.”
The festival will also have kiosks along the Fountain Piazza with different types of Chinese food, and also a Chinese market for visitors to buy gifts, souvenirs and Chinese food products.
Parents will find time to unwind as well with plenty of activities for kids lined up, including a kid’s corner by Funky Monkey where children will be able to get their faces painted. All the performances and activities will take place between 5:00pm and 10:30pm, and the dragon boat race will be from 8:00am to 12:00pm and from 2-5pm
The Dhs120m Al Majaz Waterfront, Shurooq’s debut project, was opened in March, 2012, and is situated in Sharjah’s most vital and commercial district on the picturesque Khalid Lagoon. As one of the premier tourist and leisure destinations in Sharjah, it plays host toall major events in the emirate.
Al Majaz Waterfront houses many world-class restaurants and cafes, including: T.G.I Friday’s, Caribou Coffee, Pizzaro, Zahr El- Laymoun, Tim Hortons café, Cold Stone, ElManza, a fine dining Moroccan restaurant and Shakespeare and Co.
