Business excellence winners honoured

His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai International Marine Club, attended the 22nd Business Excellence Awards ceremony hosted by the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai and honoured 42 winners of Dubai Quality Award, Dubai Human Development Award (DHDA) and Dubai Service Excellence Scheme (DSES) – for their outstanding pursuit of excellence during 2015.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Government) and UAE Exchange Centre (Finance) received the coveted Dubai Quality Gold Award from HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who also honoured the winners of the Dubai Quality Award, which are Emirates Group Security and Emirates Driving Institute (Services).
Dubai First (Finance), Network International (Finance), Tim Hortons & Cold Stone Creamery by Apparel Group (Retail), Jumeirah Creekside Hotel (Tourism), Tamani Marina Hotel and Hotel Apartment (Tourism), LLH Hospital (Healthcare), Thumbay Hospital – Ajman (Healthcare), Global Village (Leisure & Entertainment), Fun City Dubai – Landmark Leisure (Leisure & Entertainment), Dutco Balfour Beatty LLC – Plant & Transport Division (Construction), Tecon (Construction), Barakat Quality Plus (Manufacturing), Bristol Fire Engineering (Manufacturing), Star Cement Company (Manufacturing) and Jaleel Distribution (Trade) received the Dubai Quality Appreciation Award from HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed.
HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed also honoured the winners in the three categories of the Dubai Human Development Award. Dubai Electricity & Water Authority from the Government sector received the coveted Dubai Human Development Gold Award while wasl (Services sector) received the Dubai Human Development Award. Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, Ministry of Interior, Dubai Statistics Center, The Public Prosecution-Dubai (all from the Government sector), Al Naboodah Commercial Group, and Al Ghandi Auto Group (both from the Trade sector) were the winners of the Dubai Human Development Appreciation Award.
HH Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed honoured 16 Best Service Performance Brands recognised under the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme. aafaq Islamic finance (Services), Arabian Automobiles Company – Nissan (Automobile Showroom), Tamaris (General Retail), Al Jaber Optical (Opticals), Majid Al Futtaim Finance – Najm Credit Cards (Contact Centre), MBT (Footwear), Marina Home Interiors (Furniture), India Palace Restaurant (Restaurants), Joyalukkas (Jewellery), Al Rostamani International Exchange (Money Exchange Services), Hogg Robinson Group – HRG (Travel Services), Eros Group (Electronics), Carters (Clothing), Cold Stone Creamery (Café), Aster Pharmacy Group (Pharmacy), and Ski Dubai (Leisure & Entertainment) were the brands honoured.
Quoting HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s observation that “the concept of excellence and innovation has become an approach and example to be adopted worldwide,” His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of DED, said: “DED is committed to promoting awareness of excellence in line with the international standing and ambitions of Dubai. We derive the energy to do so from the directives of our leadership to sustainably develop Dubai’s economy by embracing global best practices.”
Al Qamzi also thanked the assessors and jury of the Business Excellence Awards for their efforts in conducting the award process in a transparent and professional manner.
The Business Excellence Awards witnessed a 30% increase in the number of companies trained and developed on the DQA/DHDA model during 2015-2016, bringing the total number of companies trained so far to 165. Companies registered for the awards rose by 14% during the same period. Meanwhile, the number of Assessors trained and developed on the DQA/DHDA Model for the 2015 cycle grew 11% to reach 281, with the number of UAE National assessors growing 23% to reach 43.
Prticularly in DSES, there was a 21.4% growth in membership during 2015 as 2,473 outlets representing 91 companies and 179 brands registered in the scheme. Among those registered 436 were entered as DSES members in 2015. Over 200 new mystery shoppers were trained in Customer Service Standards under DSES in 2015.
The scope of the Business Excellence Awards have been expanded remarkably to reflect the focal points of the vision and sustainable development strategy of Dubai. During 2015-2016, a new criteria was added to the Dubai Quality Award, Dubai Human Development Awards and Dubai Service Excellence Scheme last year, to evaluate the participants on their Disability Friendliness.

UAE Exchange wins coveted Dubai Quality Gold Award

The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai announced the winners of the Business Excellence Awards 2015 during a glittering ceremony held at Dubai World Trade Centre. HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and HH Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai International Marine Club, presented the coveted Dubai Quality Gold Award to UAE Exchange, the leading global remittance, foreign exchange and payment solutions brand.
In the 22 years since the launch of the Dubai Quality Awards, UAE Exchange becomes the first-ever remittance brand to win the Dubai Quality Gold Award (DQGA).
“We are very proud to be the first remittance brand to have won the Dubai Quality Gold Award. It is a coveted award and a top honour, given the fact that the criteria are very stringent and expected performance standards are extremely high,” said Dr B R Shetty, Chairman, UAE Exchange Group.
