Innovative food concepts, natural ingredients and a customer-focussed service environment, that’s what Doner Deli is all about. Ever since Hazem Elgendy and Mustafa Alrefaie founded their fast casual restaurant brand in 2014 in Dubai, it has quickly established
itself as a synonym for authentic wholesome German street food across the UAE.
Mustafa Alrefaie told Emirates Business, “As a mature market, the F&B sector in the UAE offers a lot of different concepts and the competition is high. However, our long years of industry experience has taught us that those who provide a high level of quality and service on a constant basiswill stand out in the market. And this is why our Doner Deli concept works.”
Before opening their first branch in Dubai, Alrefaie and his partner Elgendy conducted a profound research on the F&B landscapes in Turkey, Greece, Lebanon and Germany — all places with famous, traditional and first-class cuisines. As a result, the two came up with their own menu blendingvarious flavors while offering a unique multicultural taste
experience.
Alrefaie’s and Elgendy’s signature dish is the Doner kebab, a prime example of combining the tastes of different cultures. While its origins are in Turkey, today’s Doner kebab was invented in Berlin, Germany, in 1972 by Turkish immigrants looking at hundreds of years ofexperience in German bread making to create the special German pita bread in which the meat is wrapped.
“Our concept of authentic wholesome German street food reflects the history and high quality of long-established recipes using all-natural ingredients. Against this backdrop, our Doner kebab is based on a traditional German recipe to preserve the authenticity of the flavours and the scrupulous and attentive preparation methods,” Alrefaie explained.
In addition, the founders of Doner Deli emphasise on local produce to guarantee that all vegetables are fresh andsource their 100 percent halal meat from selected artisan farms in Europe to ensure first-class products. “Wholesome street food is not just a label or classification, it’s an attitude and a passion that our customers feel and appreciate,” Alrefaie underlined.
After openings in Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, Al Barsha, Rabia Tower, near Al Barari, and, most recently, in Fujairah, the Doner Deli brand is now further spreading its wings, thereby answering the growing demand and confirming the new trends in today’s street food culture, which is defined by people in urban settings looking for authentic taste experiences.
