The Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Bin Hamoodah Auto, the authorised Dealer of Chevrolet and GMC from General Motors in Abu Dhabi, have signed a two-year agreement under which the latter will sponsor the UAE Women’s Tour 2024, to be held from 8 to 11 February, as well as the 2025 edition, and the UAE Tour 2024 and 2025. The UAE Tour 2024 – the only international race in the Middle East – will be held from 19 to 25 February and the 2024 Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo race kicks off in December, followed by the 2025 editions. The agreement was signed at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council headquarters, in the presence of Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Ayman Al Bijawi, Director of Sales and Marketing at Bin Hamoodah.
Under the agreement, Chevrolet Captiva will become the official car of the UAE Women’s Tour and the UAE Tour, as Bin Hamoodah will provide 90 cars to support the activities and events of the two upcoming events in February. Bin Hamoodah will also officially sponsor the black jersey in the UAE Tour 2024, as well as acquire the name of two community races, the dates of which will be determined later.
Aref Al Awani emphasised the importance of signing the agreement, explaining that Bin Hamoodah’s support was neither new nor out of place. He stated that the support is reflective of the company’s true values, alongside its commitment to social responsibility and the national role it plays in motivating communities to lead a healthy lifestyle, especially since cycling is witnessing a major boom in various parts of the UAE in general and Abu Dhabi in particular.
Al Awani said, “We welcome Bin Hamoodah in joining the fleet of success partners of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with whom we have joined forces together in our various international and community events alike.”
For his part, Ayman Al Bijjawi said, “We are proud of our partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council to sponsor the UAE Women’s Tour and the UAE Tour 2024 – the only global race in the Middle East region on the UCI racing calendar – as well as the Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo race, as it falls within the framework of our keenness in supporting sporting activities and events that have a positive impact on society.”
He concluded, “Through the new agreement, we seek to play an important role in society and encourage everyone to adopt a healthy lifestyle. We are very happy to be part of these international sporting events.”
