Belgian minister under pressure over EU security report

Belgium’s transport minister is under pressure to resign over a secret European Union report exposing past lapses in oversight of security at airports across the nation.
The restricted EU document of last year was made public by two opposition parties. It said that oversight of security measures at the nation’s airports was flawed and there were some serious deficiencies in the way safety checks were managed.
Phone calls and email to the offices of Transport Minister Jacqueline Galant were not immediately returned.
The revelations came in the wake of the March 22 attacks when 32 people died, including 16 at the national airport.
Parliament has a session late Thursday and opposition parties have promised to grill the minister on the issue.
