In 2017, efforts will be maximised to build onto what the UAE’s founding fathers had achieved, and to shape a better future for generations to come, affirmed Dr Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the
National Media Council (NMC).
In a series of tweets to mark the convening of the Federal Cabinet at the Union House in Dubai, Dr. Al Jaber said the Cabinet meeting at the Union House is a proper and optimistic sign for ringing in the Year of Giving 2017.
“The Union House signifies that the UAE house is united within the culture of the unity, offering tolerance, giving and goodness, in addition to positive work and mobilising efforts for the present and the future,” Dr. Al Jaber added, in tweets published on the NMC’s Twitter Account.
“The meeting at Union House carries the values of pride, dignity and gratitude for the birthplace of the Union, whose fruits we are reaping today in the UAE,” he added.
“The symbolism of the Union House”, he emphasised, “does not stop at the history of the site, but places a heavy responsibility on us to continue to deliver more achievements and preserve what our founding fathers built.
“The meeting reminds us of the historic meetings that the late founding fathers, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, convened to lay down the stepping stones of the Union. The two leaders insisted on founding the Union, despite the challenging circumstances which depended on their future vision, will and perseverance. The people and community of the UAE and the region are harvesting the benefits of the founding fathers’ far-sighted vision,” he stressed.
“The Union House reminds us of the well-established and longstanding national values and principles on which the UAE was founded, including unity, cooperation, unified and concerted efforts, development and progress. These values also called for offering goodness, not only to the UAE, but for the whole of humanity,” Dr Al Jaber concluded.
