Women are key partners in sustainable development

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, underlined the importance of the achievements of the Emirati woman under the UAE’s wise leadership thus contributing to enhancing the UAE’s strides towards progress and advancement, all of which reflected on women and their status at both Arabic and world levels.
Speaking on the occasion of “Emirati Women’s Day” on Tuesday, Sheikh Sultan said that Emirati women are proud role models for women around the world due to their ability to effect change in the various areas, occupying high-profile positions in political, social and economic fields, as well other areas, not to mention their becoming key partners in the process of renaissance and sustainable development of the UAE.
“Emirati Women’s Day is an important occasion on which we celebrate the achievements of Emirati women every year. Emirati women, as the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, said, not only make one half of society in statistical terms, but also in terms of involvement in the responsibility of bringing up sound nurturing generations. Women are the foundation on which a society is established,” Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed added.
He went on to say that Sharjah, thanks to HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment, NAMA, has profusely supported Emirati women, granted them all possible opportunities to develop their capabilities. He asserted that equal opportunities between men and women should be a key objective to ensure sustainable development for any society.
