US-based Arcserve, a top 5 data protection vendor and unified data resilience platform provider, participated at the recently concluded Gitex Global 2022. For Arcserve, attending Gitex Global 2022, a well-known event for the IT industry over the years, is key to growing our footprint in the GCC region, said Florian Malecki, executive vice
president of marketing at Arcserve.
“Arcserve aims to help businesses avoid costly business disasters and damage from data loss with our best-in-class unified data resilience solutions suite. Our backup and recovery solutions, and immutable storage offering, ensure a
near-zero impact on businesses,” said Malecki.
He stressed that organisations across the spectrum should continuously update and test their disaster recovery plan to build data resilience. It’s equally important to protect data as it’s to recover it. Hence, companies (SMBs or large corporations) must elevate high-end data security solutions to all levels with the specific goal towards creating a safety net.
There have been numerous instances of Arcserve’s security solutions helping businesses secure their data from the ever-increasing threats in the data security market. Still, Malecki recalled one significant case study wherein Arcserve’s product OneXafe’s ability to start with a small storage capacity and grow accordingly made this technology particularly attractive to the UAE-based Africa Institute.
The institute chose OneXafe to improve storage solutions and data security. He added that the Africa Institute previously deployed a traditional scale-up storage model as their data storage solution. But intending to expand its operations significantly in the next three years, the system’s limited scalability and inadequate capability to guard against modern threats such as ransomware was a significant drawback. “By opting for Arcserve’s OneXafe, The Africa Institute leveraged the platform’s scale-out immutable storage architecture technology to improve scalability, simplify its data management and make substantial cuts to its storage footprint. After 21 months of operations, OneXafe’s return on investment and overall performance have exceeded the institute’s expectations. Arcserve is one of the world’s most experienced providers of backup, recovery and immutable storage solutions for unified data resilience against ransomware and disasters,” added Malecki.

Avoiding Permanent Data Loss
Arcserve announced key findings from its annual independent global research study that the loss of critical data continues to disrupt businesses and remains an issue for organizations. In the research study of experiences and attitudes of IT decision makers (ITDMs), 76% of respondents reported a severe loss of critical data in their organization. Of that number, 45% had permanent data loss. Data is a priceless commodity, and these findings underscore the importance of building data resilience with a robust data backup and recovery plan with data integrity at the core to prevent severe business disruptions.
The research study also found that many organizations could not maintain business continuity on time once data was lost or compromised. Businesses need to recover data quickly, especially in today’s always-on world.
About “83% of respondents said that 12 hours or less is an acceptable level of downtime for critical systems before there is a measurable negative business impact. Still, only 52% could recover from a severe data loss in 12 hours or less. And 29% of the businesses surveyed couldn’t recover data for one day or more,” he added.
