‘UAE, Maldives should work together to promote tourism’

HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on Sunday met the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Maldives, Dunya Maumoon.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest and ways to enhance cooperation and bilateral relations which would contribute to achieving the joint interests of the two countries. Sheikh Abdullah and Maumoon also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed his happiness at having visited the Republic of Maldives and extended thanks to Maumoon for the warm welcome and hospitality that he and his accompanying delegation received.
On her part, the Maldives’ Foreign Minister welcomed Sheikh Abdullah and those accompanying him, stressing her country’s keenness on enhancing relations between the two countries.
She also expressed her appreciation for the support given by the UAE to her country to enhance the development projects in the humanitarian, economic, social and energy fields.
In his remarks to the media at the end of the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah said, ‘‘I have the honour to be in Maldives during this official visit and to meet the Maldives’ President.”
‘‘The geographical proximity between the UAE and the Maldives is a wonderful thing, so we must work together to promote tourism between the two countries,” he added.
On her part, Maumooon said, ‘‘Both Maldives and the UAE enjoy outstanding bilateral relations and both of us are working to develop them continuously.” She also extended thanks to the UAE for its continued support for her country.
The UAE Non-Resident Ambassador to Maldives, Abdul Hamid Abdul Fattah Kazim Al Mulla, attended the meeting.
