UAE firms to exhibit at Hannover Messe

As many as 15 government entities and private bodies will exhibit in the UAE pavilion at Hannover Messe — the world’s largest manufacturing industry trade fair. The UAE is sending a delegation to Germany to participate in the prestigious exhibition for the tenth consecutive year, being held from April, 24-28.
Across two halls and 1,000 square metres, 15 organisations representing UAE will present their latest developments, investment opportunities and market insights to over 250,000 expected visitors, businessmen and government officials from around the world.
During the press conference, HE Juma Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary from the Ministry of Economy (MoE), and HE Khalifa Salem Al Mansouri, Acting Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, discussed objectives and expectations from this year’s participation at Hannover Messe. The press conference was held at the Abu Dhabi Economic Media Club, in the Department of Economic Development headquarters.
The two also outlined the sixth annual UAE Investment & Business Forum, during which high-profile business leaders will provide insights into the UAE’s industrial outlook in the post-oil economy, national applications of innovation and technology, and international investment opportunities throughout the Emirates.
Speaking on the side-lines of the press conference, HE Juma Al Kait said: “The manufacturing sector is a major pillar of our country’s economy. It accounts for around 13 per cent of our non-oil GDP, which we aim to further raise to more than 20 per cent in the next few years. It plays a central role in sustaining our economic diversification efforts geared towards ushering in a post-oil era. Our active participation in Hannover Messe forms part of our continuous efforts to further develop our industrial capabilities with a sharp focus on manufacturing, research and development, innovation and sustainability.”
HE Khalifa Salem Al Mansouri said: “We are proud to announce that 15 organisations will participate at the UAE Pavilion. Together, they provide insight into the variety of specialisations and operations across different sectors and industries, which provide international stakeholders and investors with strategic investment and business opportunities, thus contributing to national economic growth. The manufacturing industry contributed 5.6% to the GDP in 2016, up from 3.6% in 2015.”
Hannover Messe will be home to Strata, Emirates Global Aluminium, ZonesCorp, DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre), Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Also participating is Abu Dhabi Ports, Dubai Airport Freezone, the Industrial Development Bureau, Abu Dhabi Business Centre and Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi.

The country’s developing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are represented this year by CCTC (Control Contracting & Trading Company), EEKMASEC and Excellent Fire & Safety.

ZonesCorp: A golden opportunity to highlight Abu Dhabi’s achievements

Strata: Contributes to our new plant
Commenting on Strata’s participation, Ismail Ali Abdulla, Deputy CEO of Strata said, “”We would like to thank the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi for leading the UAE delegation to Hannover Messe. At Hannover Messe we will be discussing with experts how we will incorporate the most advanced industrial technology to build our new ‘Strata 2.0’ facility, which is set to deploy leading 4th Industrial Revolution technologies and ‘Smart Factory Ecosystem’ principles, including smart building, operational processes and smart manufacturing.”
He added, “Participating in the fair alongside these UAE leading industrial companies embodies our role in the UAE’s Vision 2021 that is centered around sustainable development and economic diversification, with a focus on driving innovation, research and development and building a knowledge based economy.”

DAFZA: Reflection of our central role
Amna Lootah, Assistant Director General for Finance and Commercial, DAFZA, said: “DAFZA’s participation as part of the UAE delegation to Hannover Messe in Germany reflects its central role in the move to further develop the country’s economy while also demonstrating its continued support for the implementation of national policies aimed at economic diversification. DAFZA has built over two decades worth of successful investments as seen in the more than 20 vital sectors and its role as a center for most of the world’s leading companies, which includes a majority of German leading companies that led the European countries investments in DAFZA by 11 per cent in terms of leased offices and industrial spaces. The German companies reached 21 per cent of the total European companies at DAFZA.
“Our presence at Hannover Messe will allow us to answer all investor inquiries and present them with investment opportunities that are backed by national incentives and strategies. The event will also serve as a strategic platform for us to present DAFZA’s unique offerings and incentives like its strategic location, which is proximate to the most active and dynamic airports in the world; the presence of advanced infrastructure and logistics services as well as the excellent facilities for investors wishing to establish a business in the Freezone. We will also highlight the importance of the new DAFZA industrial park and how existing and new investors can take advantage of the incentives and offerings available at this newly built area.”

EAD: Towards sustainable development
A spokesperson from the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), said: “The objective of our participation in Hannover Messe is to showcase the innovative activities and efforts EAD is undertaking with regards to the industrial sector. We are looking forward to engaging with the industry and sharing with them the environmental challenges we are facing in Abu Dhabi and to seek opportunities to solve these challenges. Moreover, we want to learn more about new technologies and best practices in the industrial sector. We want to see a thriving industrial economic growth in Abu Dhabi whilst ensuring the environment is protected, resources are being used efficiently and minimizing impact on human health.”

Abu Dhabi Ports: A unique commercial gateway
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, stressed the importance of their participation as a leading developer, operator and manager of commercial and community ports in the UAE. Al Shamisi noted that this year represented Abu Dhabi Ports’ 7th consecutive year at Hannover Messe, saying: “At Hannover Messe this year and as part of the greater UAE stand, it gives us great pride to share our latest developments and achievements with the world’s leading companies, countries and industrial community. With the support of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, we are inviting major companies at the exhibition to visit our stand to learn more about the premiere industrial and logistical services that Abu Dhabi is capable of delivering, as a unique commercial gateway.”
“We intend to use our time there wisely — to update delegates about the recent Khalifa Port Free Trade Zone developments at Khalifa Industrial Zone (KIZAD), which we are sure will be of great interest to investors”, Al Shamsi stressed.
He added that UAE’s participation at Hannover Messe will stimulate industrial investment in the UAE, especially in light of the UAE’s emergence as an important destination for industries in the region and adopting the latest international standards in the industrial sector.

Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry
H.E. Khalid bin Butti Al Hajri, Director General of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “The Chamber’s participation in this important international industrial event stems from our commitment to keeping pace with the latest industrial developments, economic investment opportunities, and the latest technological applications in the field. By informing businesses and investors of the latest developments in the industrial and technological fields, we hope to expand their activities, effectively communicate with international counterparts, and enhance the competitiveness of private sector companies.”
He added: “Our participation at Hanover Messe comes as part of our strategic framework to strengthen the industrial sector in the emirate, with a view to increasing its contribution to Sharjah’s GDP. We aim to focus on investing in vital sectors, the most important of which is the industrial field, in addition to introducing and to focus on investment in sectors and vital areas.”

UAE Pavilion has witnessed other participations from DOCAB, Emirates steel, Emirates Floating glass, Al Mimari UPVC, Al Shoumoukh Group, Danat Factoy, Agthia, Alfoah, Newpharma, Bait Al Nokhada Tents, Emirates Gazals for furniture and decoration, Tam perfumes industry.
