UAE completes NHRI draft law: Al Jarman

The UAE announced completion of a draft law on the establishment of a national human rights institution (NHRI), following the Paris Principles.
This was stated by Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, Assistant Minister for Human Rights and International Law at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in a speech at the 42nd session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
Adopted in 1993 by UN General Assembly, the Paris Principles require NHRIs to protect human rights, including by receiving, investigating and resolving complaints, mediating conflicts, monitoring activities; and promote human rights, via education, outreach, media, publications, training and capacity building, as well as advising, assisting government.
