Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance, stressed the UAE leadership’s keenness to make the UAE a global model and cradle of humanitarian co-existence, culture and communication.
She said this has been confirmed by the annual Global Competitiveness Report, where the UAE is ranked third globally in 2016 and eighth in 2015, based on the national culture index for tolerance and openness of local culture to others.
Sheikha Lubna made these comments during a meeting held in Abu Dhabi with a delegation from various churches in Jebel Ali, including Father Mina Hanna, Head of Coptic Orthodox Church, and Reverend Timothy Heaney from Christ Church Jebel Ali.
She explained that the responsibility to promote the values of co-existence, tolerance, harmony, and dialogue does not fall only on government agencies and institutions, but is also the responsibility of every citizen and resident living in the country. Sheikha Lubna also pointed to the active role played by all nationalities and people living in the UAE and for the positive contributions they offer to the country in various fields.
Members of the delegation expressed their thanks to the Minister of Tolerance for her warm reception, stressing that the UAE is a leading example of peaceful co-existence and community solidarity, and one where all segments of society are respected and appreciated and live in a safe environment to practice their religion freely.
