The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is organizing an evening of intellectual conversations on Wednesday at The Cultural & Scientific Association Dubai with Dr Yousef Al Hassan, author of the book titled ‘Identity, Tolerance and a Culture of
Dialogue’s Questions.’
The event aims to promote a culture of reading within the TRA in support of the declaration of 2016 as the ‘Year of Reading’ by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and following the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to raise a generation of readers among UAE Nationals, make reading as a social habit and establish the country as a capital known for content, knowledge, and culture.
The event’s inaugural theme is timely given the UAE Cabinet’s recent approval of the National Tolerance Programme based on seven key pillars: Islam, the UAE Constitution, the Nation’s Founding Father H.H. Sheikh Zayed’s legacy and ethics, international conventions, history, humanity and common values.
The TRA invites interested individuals to join the dialogue which will start at 9pm and last until 11pm and will be extended accordingly to accommodate audience interest. Well-known academic personalities in the UAE as well as TRA employees are expected to participate. Dr. Al Hassan will present the highlights of his book, with an open forum to follow.
