Tadweer launches ‘Your Waste, Your Responsibility’ awareness campaign

Tadweer (The Center of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi) has launched a unique awareness campaign “Your Waste, Your Responsibility” at Khalifa Park involving over 1000 students from 50 government, private, foreign and Arabic schools across Abu Dhabi.
This initiative has been organised in partnership with Averda and Lavajet, and in collaboration with a number of local entities, namely Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, Abu Dhabi Education Council, Zayed University, Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed Agricultural Center for Development and Rehabilitation, Abu Dhabi Autism Center, Fazaa Volunteering
Program.
HE Eisa Saif Al Qubaisi, General Manager of Tadweer, said, “This campaign aims to promote waste reduction, reuse and recycling in all schools of Abu Dhabi, in accordance with Abu Dhabi Vision 2030. We strive to pave the way for future generations who are environmentally and economically aware of the significance of reducing waste and converting it to resources. In addition, we attach utmost importance to diversify our purposeful activities which are based on creativity and knowledge development.”
“At Tadweer, we focus on sustainability, culture of change, excellence and innovation, social responsibility, empowerment and attention. Such initiatives contribute to achieving our values by highlighting the importance of reducing waste and increasing its benefits via reusing and recycling rather than simply disposing it,” added Al Qubaisi.
A number of students gathered at the venue on Wednesday and divided into various groups followed by the inaugural function with a speech highlighting the importance of sorting and recycling waste.
In order to diversify the awareness techniques and meet the educational plan of the Emirate, the teams participated in three activities which included various competitions, workshop on reuse and concluded with the final activity where students were provided with waste bags to help clean up the park.
Tadweer is the main governmental entity that handles all the activities related to the development of waste management services, from the collection, transport, treatment, and safe disposal in an efficient and economical way across the Abu Dhabi.
Tadweer also spares no effort to provide support and assistance for all events and occasions that aim to educate communities on the importance of preserving the environment and encourage them to exercise and adopt a proper environmental behaviour, which would advance sustainable development.
