Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) celebrated its fourteenth annual ceremony on March 2 in Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre in Sharjah.
During the ceremony, the SEDD
honoured its strategic partners from different local and federal institutions as well as from the concerned companies in the economic field, in addition to the media partners for their effective and great role in highlighting SEDD’s efforts placed in the emirate through the different newspapers and media means.
Also, SEDD honoured its distinguished and outstanding employees for their suggestions and role in attaining the Department’s objectives according to the plans and strategies of the Government of Sharjah.
The Annual Ceremony started with the national anthem and recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, then a film about the Department’s achievements, initiatives, procedures, and services was played which has also included the Memorandums of Understanding that SEDD has signed with various organisations in 2015.
Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, gave a speech in the ceremony at which he said, “This year, we are celebrating the continuous improvement and the results that we have achieved in the economic field, and we have witnessed the development of our procedures and services in order to attain our main goal which is to create a suitable, sustainable and attractive economic environment for our investors and customersâ€.
He carried on by saying that SEDD’s biggest achievements was and is its investment in the technological field and the development of many e-services whereby the number of such services reached 72 ones that are available on the Department’s website, 42 applications that can be downloaded in smartphones, in addition to the linking with more than 24 entities and institutions in order to facilitate the procedures on investors. It is worth mentioning that Sharjah’s GDP in 2015 exceeded 90 billion whereby its economy recorded the highest growth level at the gulf and local levels because it is looked at as the most diversified economy in the region.
Also, he pointed out that the Emiratisation rate in SEDD hit 93 per cent during 2015 which confirms the Department’s commitment to it strategic vision that indicates the importance of involving citizens in all sectors and providing job opportunities to young people and fresh graduates that commensurate with their academic qualifications in order to contribute in the comprehensive development of the emirate.
After that, he added that SEDD celebrates its 14th Annual Ceremony with its partners to express its gratitude and thanks to them for their great and effective role in promoting the wise vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, that aims to make Sharjah one of the most attractive places for investors to carry their business at and to maintain the development of the economic felid by shifting to an economy that is based on knowledge. then, He illustrated that SEDD pays great attention to strengthen its partnerships in a way that grantee the continuity of such relations, stressing that such mutual efforts and relations will help in developing and improving the working procedures in the economic sector and will help in facing all the economic challenges that the region may encounter.
