Mohamed meets world leaders at WGS

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, separately received Macky Sall, President of Senegal, and Kentaro Sonoura, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, in Dubai on Sunday, as part of the World Government Summit.
He welcomed both delegates and wished them success during their visit to the World Government Summit, which began yesterday. He also talked with the two guests about the ties of friendship and co-operation between the UAE and both Senegal and Japan, as well as the means to develop their relations to serve their common interests.
Their discussions included the work of the World Government Summit and the important role it plays to support the work of governments by highlighting successful models and creative ideas that aim to update and support the active mechanisms of governments and elevate them to higher levels, as well as to guide development for the world’s population.
The two guests praised the well organised summit, which reflects the UAE’s advanced cultural level and its ability to manage international events. The summit has become an essential platform for offering expectations about future government performance through the exchange of ideas and models between participants, on all matters that contribute to developing and updating international-level government services and management.
The meeting with the President of Senegal was also attended by HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Co-operation; Ahmed Juma Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs, and Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, the Under-Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed also received Dr Christine Lagarde, CEO of International Monetary Fund, during the Summit.
He welcomed Dr Lagarde and discussed the current relations between the UAE and international institutions, especially in the economic sector, to
support initiatives and ideas for developing the international
economic system.
The meeting was attended by HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; Obaid bin Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for
Financial Affairs; Mubarak Rashed Al Mansouri, Governor of the UAE Central Bank, as well as several officials and members of Dr Lagarde’s delegation.
Meeting with
Afghanistan President
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed also received Ashraf Ghani, President of Afghanistan. The two leaders discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between both countries at Al Shati Palace on Sunday.
They also reviewed cooperation in the economic and development domains, as well as ways to support reconstruction in Afghanistan.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasised that the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will continue to support the friendly people of Afghanistan in all humanitarian and development fields, which would enhance and improve social, educational and health sectors in Afghani society. He also wished further development, security, stability and progress for Afghanistan.
President Ghani said that the UAE’s previous efforts had contributed to the stability of Afghani families through the UAE’s support programme, as well as humanitarian and development initiatives in many areas. He extended his gratitude and appreciation for these efforts. Sheikh Mohamed and President Ghani also reviewed the latest regional and international developments, and issues of mutual interest.
Also attending the meeting were Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the accompanying delegation of the Afghan President.
