The Mohamed bin Zayed Award for the Best GCC Teacher was launched on Monday in Abu Dhabi, upon the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
With the total value prize of AED6 million, the award highlights exceptional educational ideas, and aims to upgrade the instrumental role of teacher in nation-building.
This came during a press conference held by the Ministry of Education in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and General Supervisor of the Award; Dr. Ali bin Abdul Khaliq Al Qarni, Chairman of the Higher Committee of the Award; Mohammed Khalifa Al Nuaimi, Director of Education Affairs Office at the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi; Abdulrahman Al Hammadi, Vice Chairman of the Higher Committee of the Award, and Dr. Hamad Ahmed Al Darmaki, Secretary-General of the Award.
“The Mohamed bin Zayed Award for the Best GCC Teacher is the first award of its kind and characterised by its value, the amount of participation, its exceptional goals and standards,” said Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi.
“We look at the teacher from a different perspective, as he comes with a message that carries noble educational values, which focus on the nation preparing future generations and assisting them to overcome important stages in the development process of the country and the transition to a sustainable knowledge economy based on innovation and creativity,” he added.
The minister stressed that the new educational plan of the Ministry of Education is in line with the nation’s directions, ambitions and goals that place teachers on the top of its priorities, highlighting the importance of teachers’ abilities to realise a contemporary vision of creative education.
“The teachers are influential partners in the education process, therefore, the ministry is empowering them to participate in drafting strategies and plans, enabling them to take on new roles through diversification in educational practices, teaching methods and modern management, while providing a stimulating learning environment for students, detecting and caring for gifted ones,” he said.
Al Hammadi also praised the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for launching the award, a move he deems vital for motivating teachers to excel in the performance of their educational mission.
