The United Kingdom-based fDi magazine has recognised Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), Dubai, the flagship trade and logistics hub of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for the wider Middle East region and Africa, as ‘Free Zone of the Year’ in three categories.
Among the awards, Jafza won was ‘Free Zone of the Year, Large Tenant, and Middle East’. It was also commended for its efforts in ‘Infrastructure Development’ and ‘Facilities Upgrades’.
The free zone was selected for its innovative initiatives to support start-up organisations, its continued focus on upgrading infrastructure to keep pace with, and efficiently meet rapidly changing requirements of investors. It was also recognised for building an eco-system that encouraged companies to continuously expand their operations in the free zone.
“Jafza’s win recognises its initiatives to support trade and logistics in the UAE and acknowledges our efforts to build infrastructure and provide services that facilitate the expansion of businesses based here,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation.
