Saadiyat Development and Investment Company (SDIC) awards the landscaping contract of Hidd Al Saadiyat to Gulf Contracting Company (GCC).
Hardscaping of the neighborhoods, kicking off in 2016, will include pavement of driveways, pathways and road signage, benches, light poles, and bollards. Furthermore, underground work activities including irrigation, electrical, manholes and concrete bases for signage will be implemented.
Planting is set to take place in a phased approached working from the beginning of the development towards the end.
Greg Slingerland, Project Director, said: “Our aim is to cater to our clients through lavish landscape elements and world-class designs. Hidd Al Saadiyat’s partnership with one of the most distinguished leading landscape consultants proudly marks the project’s final steps towards completion.”
Awarded the Estidama Pearl 2 rating for compliance with Abu Dhabi’s sustainability standards of new projects by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), Hidd Al Saddiyat’s landscape will include interconnected park spaces, children’s play areas, open lawn spaces and shaded seating areas. The development’s open spaces are designed for water conservation, with native plant species, and materials selected specifically for solar reflection. The project’s green areas stretch across 20% of the total master plan.
The master plan development conceives many strategies such as the primary and secondary pedestrian walkways that aim to ease the accessibility within the development. These include access to linear and neighborhood parks, shaded public realm spaces and beach front as well as the integration of bicycle paths.
Hidd Al Saadiyat, which comprises of nearly 1.5 million square meters of natural beachfront land and 7km of waterfront with easy access to the beach from every unit, is conveniently located in Saadiyat Island, the cultural district of the capital. Hidd Al Saadiyat is surrounded by world-class hotels, resorts and museums, offering a perfect blend of community living.
