Visitors to Sharjah considering the best way of taking in the emirate’s diverse array of attractions should look no further than City Sightseeing Sharjah.
The company’s fleet of tour buses are playing a pivotal role in promoting the emirate’s rich culture, its heritage environment and its modern amenities. The stylish and colourful modes of transport launched in 2012 by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), in collaboration with City Sightseeing Worldwide, are providing visitors to the ‘Smiling Emirate’ with fulfilling and memorable sightseeing experiences.
City Sightseeing Sharjah runs exceptional recreational tours aimed at helping visitors and tourists discover Sharjah’s historical monuments, its lively landscapes and its strong heritage. Riding on premium double-decker buses with convertible rooftops, visitors on the company’s various tour can hop on and off at their leisure to fully explore the city’s array of tourist landmarks. City Sightseeing Sharjah’s buses pass by the stops on their respective routes every 30 minutes to pick up and drop off passengers who are able to use a single ticket valid for 24 hours from first use, irrespective of the number of stops they make.
City Sightseeing Sharjah’s tour buses operate at the same high standards as premium bus tours across the world’s largest and most advanced cities, with each vehicle having been specially redesigned to accommodate the region’s climate. Every bus in the fleet features a convertible rooftop that can be opened or closed in response to the weather conditions and has free Wi-Fi to allow passengers to instantly share their photographs on social media as they travel along.
The seats on City Sightseeing Sharjah’s buses are equipped with headsets and an audio guide system which provide a background of each site along the route, as well as comprehensive information about Sharjah in many languages; including Arabic, English, German, Russian, Chinese, Spanish and Indian.
City Sightseeing Sharjah, which was rated first out of other activities to do in Sharjah by the globally respected travel site ‘Trip Advisor,’ offers three different routes for tourists; the Red Route, Green Route and Blue Route.
The Red Route, also known as the ‘Leisure Tour’, takes on 13 stops in 90 minutes,with the Central Souq as the starting point and Sharjah City Centre as the final stop. Along the way it passes by Palm Tree Oasis, Al Noor Mosque, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Al Montazah Amusement and Waterpark, Al Khan Corniche, Sharjah Aquarium and Maritime Museum, Al Qasba, Sahara Centre and Safeer Mall.
The Green Route, also called the ‘Cultural Tour’, comprises eight stops along a route travelled in 60 minutes. The tour visits the two parts of Central Souq, Fish Market, Heart of Sharjah, Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation, Radisson Blu, the Field of Culture and Mega Mall. Operating the same itinerary but during the evening is the Blue Route, also known as the ‘Night Tour’, which is dedicated to tourists who prefer to explore the wonders of Sharjah after the sun has gone down.
City Sightseeing Sharjah’s tours are available seven days a week throughout the year, with its Red Route and Green Route day tours running from 9:00am to 7:00pm and its Blue Route night tours running on Fridays and Saturdays and on public holidays from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.
