The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) local assistance stood at about AED145 million in 2015, including social and seasonal aid for one million Emiratis and expatriate residents registered in 10 ERC offices
nationwide.
The move follows the implementation of the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, Chairman of ERC to boost the authority’s humanitarian assistance to reach out to the needy categories nationwide.
This came in a review of report of the ERC’s local assistance department by the members of the Higher Committee for Local Assistance at ERC during their first meeting in 2016 at the ERC branch office in Ras Al Khaimah. The meeting was chaired by Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Deputy Secretary-General for Local Affairs at the ERC. It was also attended by the ERC officials.
Al Mansouri said the authority works upon the directives of the ERC higher authority’s instructions to tackle the local humanitarian needs through mechanisms designed for this purpose.
