Enigma of MH370 will haunt aviation world

This is one of the mysteries that has already put the ability of technology to test and will continue to frustrate the world in future. The search of missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 has been abandoned after almost three years. The plane vanished during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014. Crews completed their deep-sea search of a desolate stretch of the Indian Ocean without finding a trace of the plane or the 239 people aboard it.
The Joint Agency Coordination Center in Australia, which helped lead the $160 million hunt for the Boeing 777 in remote waters west of Australia, announced the suspension of the search .The crews finished their fruitless sweep of the 120,000-square kilometer search zone.
Officials carrying out the investigations had recommended a new 25,000-square-kilometer search area further north, where the plane most likely crashed. But the Australian government has already refused it.
The transport bureau announced that a review of the data used to estimate where the plane crashed strongly suggested that the plane hit the water in an area directly north of the search zone. But Australia’s government rejected to search the new area to the north, citing lack of precise analysis.
The transport ministers of the three countries have maintained that scientific studies continued to refine areas of probability, and it has failed to yield any new information that can be used to determine the specific location of the aircraft.
Australia, Malaysia and China — which have each helped fund the search — had agreed to abandon the search once the search zone was exhausted unless new evidence emerges that pinpoints the plane’s specific location. In absence of concrete information about exactly where the plane is, the most expensive and complex search in aviation history is over.
Despite every effort using the best science available, cutting-edge technology, as well as modeling and advice from highly skilled professionals, who are the best in their field, unfortunately, the search has not been able to locate the aircraft.
In the absence of solid leads, investigators relied largely on an analysis of transmissions between the plane and a satellite to narrow down where in the world the jet ended up — a technique never previously used to find an aircraft.
Relatives of passengers on the ill-fated flight plane responded largely with outrage. They said that extending the search is “an inescapable duty owed to the flying public.” The lack of resolution has caused agony for family members of the flight’s passengers, who are begging to continue the hunt for their loved ones. Throughout the whole search period, hopes of families ebbed and flowed. Undoubtedly, the last three years have been an agonizingly long period for a piece of news about the aircraft and the missing passengers. And it will continue to haunt the families who lost their loved ones.
If the plane is never found, the reasons for its disappearance and crash will probably never be known to the world. Without understanding what happened to the plane, there’s a good chance that this could happen in the future as well. The world can only hope that at some point in the future the aircraft will be located.
