Dubai / WAM

Emirates Post Group (EPG) celebrated World Post Day at a special event in which UAE winners of the ‘UPU International Letter Writing Competition for Young People, 2016’ were honoured, along with participants in the Reading Week programme.
At the ceremony, the top 10 student letter-writers in Arabic and top 3 in English were presented with certificates and gifts. The UAE leg of the competition attracted 3,000 entries from over 500 schools.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief of Postal Operations Affairs at EPG, Sultan Al Midfa, said, “In line with the Reading initiative launched by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Emirates Post Group is pleased to incorporate this theme into this year’s celebration of World Post Day, through a series of week-long events during which employees and invited students got together to share the joy of reading.
“As we celebrate World Post Day, the UAE, represented by the Emirates Post Group, is proud to have added another laurel to its achievements: membership to the UPU Council of Administration for the period 2017-2020. This honour is the result of the efforts made by the government under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to boost the happiness of UAE people and make it a model nation internationally.”
