EDA organizes diplomatic training for students

Emirates diplomatic Academy (EDA) organized an interactive training course for over 100 students of the UAE Youth Ambassador Program (UAEYAP).
The 3-day course, held in Emirates Diplomatic Academy in Abu Dhabi, focused on familiarizing participants with elements of diplomacy, protocol, etiquette and communication, negotiation skills, as well as teaching them how to conduct country analysis.
The training program aims to develop the participants’ skills and confidence to better prepare them to effectively represent the UAE in the international arena, and enhance their diplomatic abilities and expertise in international relations.
On the occasion, Bernardino León, Director General of EDA, said: “Emirates Diplomatic Academy complements academic knowledge with practical aspects of international relations to prepare the next generation of diplomatic cadre. EDA organised this training course to offer a better understanding of multicultural manners, enabling participants to make informed strategic decisions based on global best practices.
The training course was designed to include a range of sessions including, introduction to diplomacy which introduced diplomatic principles to the trainees; developing their knowledge and understanding of diplomacy and its various forms such as multilateral, summit diplomacy, and other forms of diplomacy. It also introduced participants to ceremonial aspect of protocol procedures, behavior of etiquette, rules of courteousness in society, and respect for precedence.
Emirates Diplomatic Academy provided the participants with certification of course completion.
As an integrated centre for diplomatic training, EDA offers Post-Graduate Diploma Programme for the graduates to gain the skills and confidence required to effectively represent the UAE in the international arena. It also provides short-term Executive Education training courses targeted at current employees in the fields of foreign policy and diplomacy in the UAE. In the area of research and analysis, the Academy conducts in-depth studies on the region and the UAE to build a knowledge base in the field of international relations and diplomacy.
The UAE Youth Ambassador program began in 2012 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed forces.
The aim of this prominent program is to prepare young Emirati students to take positions in strategic sectors and strengthen the strategic partnerships between the UAE and selected countries under the program.
