Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) announced its participation in the National Career Exhibition 2017, which takes place from February 15-17 at Expo Centre Sharjah.
During their participation at the forum, DSCD will accept CVs from candidates interested in employment with the department and use the opportunity to answer any questions they may have. The Sharjah government department says that the interaction will enable prospective Emirati job seekers to start the process of applying for available vacancies at DSCD that match their academic qualifications and meet job requirements.
Commenting on the participation in the exhibition, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of DSCD, said that it is in line with its vision to invest in talented human capital, qualify and train a dynamic national workforce and enhance Emiratisation at the department and across other government entities. He pointed out that all of the department’s vacant positions last year were filled by Emiratis who applied for jobs during the National Career Exhibition 2016.
“DSCD pays great attention to take part in the National Career Exhibition every year, which stems from its CSR vision and its belief in the importance of the event in boosting its efforts to develop community development plans in the Emirate of Sharjah and enhance Emiratisation,” said Al Thani.
“DSCD is one of the leading government bodies in terms of rates of Emiratisation. Over the past few years, we have achieved exceptional results in pursuing the policy, with UAE Nationals now comprising 95 percent of employees in the department. This would not have been possible without the continuous support and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah who enabled us to accelerate the implementation of Emiratisation plans at the department and in the emirate as a whole,” he added.
DSCD’s stand at the fair this year will feature a new initiative titled ‘Register Your Attendance,’ which will be launched in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani and a number of section heads at the department. The activity will collect data on visitors’ occupational status and will share information with the concerned entities in Sharjah, as well as the federal government, in order to support Emiratisation and community development programmes.
The Sharjah Census 2015 unveiled the distribution of Emirati nationals (aged 15 years and above) by employment status, revealing that at the time of census data collection there were 113,081 Emiratis in employment with this figure breaking down into 31,016 men and 14,776 women who were salaried employees.
The annual National Career Exhibition is one of UAE’s largest and most successful employment events. The three-day platform will see the participation of more than 70 leading government and private entities to provide jobs and training opportunities and to facilitate national manpower into the country’s workforce.
