Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received a high-level delegation from the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce led by Fritz Horst Melsheimer, President of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Hans-Jorg Schmidt-Trenz, CEO of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.
The delegation is visiting UAE to participate in the 5th Dubai Hamburg Business Forum.
The delegation also visited DEWA office to learn more about its successful experiences, skills, international practices, and smart initiatives, launched to achieve the Smart Dubai initiative of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Al Tayer welcomed the delegation, highlighting DEWA’s commitment towards benchmarking, and exchanging information, skills, and the practices of pioneering government organisations from around the world.
“DEWA has recently launched three strategic initiatives including Shams Dubai, to connect solar energy to buildings, the smart Applications initiative through smart meters and Green Chargers, and establishing the infrastructure to build electric vehicle charging stations. To ensure that the Shams Dubai initiative is a success, DEWA is working with its partner organisations to install photovoltaic panels. The initiative is part of a wider environmental approach, which falls in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050,” he said.
In light of the Smart Applications initiative through smart meters, DEWA has developed a comprehensive strategy to install metres within electricity and water networks across the Emirate.
“The metres adopt advanced features via smart applications, monitoring and controlling consumption and connection speed, in addition to other innovative features that promote a smart and green lifestyle,” he added.
