Al Nabooda Racing is gearing up for the big event at Bahrain International Circuit, set to take place next week. The team aims to achieve a bunch of new records as the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East reaches its climax.
With Al Nabooda already secured the GT3 Cup team championship for the third time in four seasons, leading racer so far Jeffrey Schmidt, is looking to add the drivers’ title to complete a superb 10th anniversary campaign for the Dubai outfit.
Vijay Rao, Team Manager of Al Nabooda Racing told Emirates Business, “Jeffrey and Zaid have been a great pairing this season and we were thrilled after last Friday’s racing, having secured the team title.”
Jeffrey has been holding an impressive 26pt lead over Zaid Ashkanani, followed by Irish driver Ryan Cullen with 8pts at the third place. Al Nabooda Racing pair could produce the first ever 1-2 championship finish by two team-mates. After achieving the record number of nine race wins by any driver in a GT3 Cup season, Jeffrey wished to raise the bar with two more in Bahrain on March 4 and 5.
“Next week we return to the Bahrain International Circuit for the final two rounds of the season. We had a strong start there back in November and I know everyone is geared up to end on a high note,” Rao said.
The team aims to repeat their impressive display at the Bahrain International Circuit during the first two rounds
of the cup, netting back-to-back wins with three podium
finishes.
The team is dedicated to achieve their target and is leaving no stone unturned, particularly following the first corner collision which put Jeffrey out of an earlier race in Dubai last month. “We knew that by pairing Jeffrey and Zaid together that we had two potential drivers’ champions, and we’re delighted that they’ve bonded so well. Both drivers are in a good position on the table and we aim to bring home the drivers’ title as well as break a few cup records,” concluded Rao.
