Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has achieved its most monumental milestone yet when it received international academic accreditation from the “Western Association of Schools and Colleges: Senior College and University Commission -WSCUC”, especially as it is one of the elite few youngest universities worldwide to receive this prestigious accreditation.
The Commission awarded ADU international accreditation for a period of 6 years, for upholding the highest international academic standards of higher education institutions worldwide in teaching, scientific research and community service and for its commitment to three core values: student learning and success outcomes, quality and improvement, and institutional integrity, sustainability and accountability.
The announcement was delivered on Saturday during a press conference organised by Abu Dhabi University, in the presence of Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri Chairman of Abu Dhabi University’s Executive Board, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim Chancellor of the Abu Dhabi University, Dr. Richard Gibb, Provost of ADU and a number of educational leaders, faculty and staff.
Addressing the reporters, Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri Chairman of Abu Dhabi University’s Executive Board explained that this achievement translates ADU’s commitment to the culture of excellence instilled in our nation by its wise leadership represented by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, along with Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and President of Abu Dhabi University’s Board of Regents, in transforming ADU into a beacon of creativity, excellence and intellectual renaissance emanating from Abu Dhabi to the world. “Our pursuit of international academic accreditation and adhering to globally competitive standards was not an easy task, especially as Abu Dhabi University has only just entered its second decade since its inception in 2003. It took a lot of determination and confidence to face this challenge head on, as it represents a turning point, not only in the history of the University, but for the higher education scene in the United Arab
Emirates.

ADU’s journey to international accreditation took more than 3 years of unrelenting hard work, through which we succeeded in adhering to all the rigorous standards and commitments with absolute transparency, that ultimately highlighted our strengths and weaknesses, allowing us further academic growth”, stressed Bin Harmal.
On his part, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University asserted that this global academic achievement confirms the quality of ADU’s educational outcomes and confirms that all its programmes offered through the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering, and the College of Business Administration represent the highest quality, and that their graduates are acknowledged globally.
