Abu Dhabi Ports aims to achieve 55% Emiratisation this year

With the aim of attracting Emirati talent aspiring to lead the dynamic operations of ports and industrial zones, Abu Dhabi Ports, is participating at Tawdheef 2017 which is being held between January 30 and February 1 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
As part of its participation at Tawdheef, Abu Dhabi Ports will unveil tens of new job opportunities that are available for Emiratis within its operational and managerial departments in order to elevate the role of Emirati talent in managing and operating its ports. The company will also present its training and development programmes that target the Nation’s ambitious youth.
Abdullah Al Hameli, Executive Vice President of Corporate Support, at Abu Dhabi Ports, commented: “Abu Dhabi Ports actively seeks to fulfil the vision of our wise leadership by enabling local youth and championing their training and development in order to lead the dynamic operations of the ports sector in Abu Dhabi in line with the Capital’s economic development plan. During the three-day event, we will exhibit our tailor-made mentoring, training and development programmes which were designed to develop Emirati talents while offering tens of jobs available in our port operations, finance, management and services departments, alongside Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD).”
76 Emiratis joined Abu Dhabi Ports in 2016 which has resulted in achieving 54 per cent in Emiratisation last year, exceeding the initially targeted 51 per cent and the company aims to reach 55 per cent of Emiratisation in 2017. On the other hand, Emiratis represent 327 employees from the total workforce at Abu Dhabi Ports, 144 of which are females making 80 per cent of the company’s female population.

As such, we ensure participating at this annual event as we develop steadily and surely with major future projects that drive our commitment to nurturing and developing our local talent in such a vital industry. I encourage our local youth to join the maritime sector and consider the promising careers we are offering during Tawdheef given the major evolution our region is witnessing which creates great and constant demand for specialised professionals,” Al Hameli added.
Abu Dhabi Ports focuses on technical roles relevant to maritime operations and offers a number of programmes that attract local talent and develop their skills. Abu Dhabi Ports’ employees are trained to become mentors to guide and support new Emirati joiners.
