Tadweer (The Centre of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi) organized a Ramadan evening to highlight the importance of leadership in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), as well as a two-way consultation workshop for Tadweer’s top management, contractors and waste sector entities. The event aimed to underline the challenges the companies are facing with respect to the requirements of the occupational safety and health system in Abu Dhabi and to provide means to support them.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness among the general managers, operations managers and OHS officers at the waste sector entities on the importance of committing to the requirements of Abu Dhabi’s occupational health and safety system. The event focused on strengthening cooperation between Tadweer and the partnering companies through direct communication, as well as developing the necessary solutions to meet the challenges that these institutions are facing.
H.E. Eng. Saeed Al Mehairbi, Acting General Manager of Tadweer said: “We strive to instill the culture of applying occupational safety and health measures in our organization as well as in the partnering companies and institutions. Our professional performance should be an example, reflecting Tadweer’s role as a government body and its commitment to Abu Dhabi Vision and Plan.”
Al Mehairbi stated that Tadweer’s role in implementing occupational safety and health policies and standards is imperative as these are at the core of its operations. Tadweer is the governmental body responsible for managing the waste sector and ensuring an enhanced occupational health and safety culture in this sector.
